Welcome, Preceptors

Thank you for being a preceptor and contributing to clinical education at the School of Pharmacy. We truly appreciate your time and energy and recognize that you make a significant difference in preparing future practitioners. We have prepared this page for you as a reference guide for your role in interacting with us and our students.

Experiential Learning Faculty and Support Staff

Our office is located in Stark Learning Center (SLC), Room 336. Our regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please feel free to contact us with questions, concerns or comments.

Shelli Holt-Macey oversees the entire experiential program and is the course coordinator for all Advanced Pharmacy Practice (APPE) rotations and the following IPPEs: Institutional IPPE (PHA 445) and Community IPPE (PHA 335). She oversees all experiential courses and sits on many school committees as the experiential liaison to the School of Pharmacy.

Kristina Powers is the Director of the experiential program and the course coordinator for the following IPPEs: Geisinger MTM/Telepharmacy (PHA 555), Weis Specialty MTM IPPE (PHA 555), and Prescriber IPPE (PHA 440). She sits on several school committees as the experiential liaison to the School of Pharmacy.


Brenda Gruver, PharmD

Self-Directed IPPE Coordinator
Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice

Brenda Gruver is the coordinator for the Self-Directed Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (SD-IPPE). SD-IPPE involves P1-P3 student participation in community service programs that directly affect patients for an accumulation of 20 experiential hours. Common examples of these programs include:

  • Brown bags at senior centers/health fairs.
  • Blood pressure screenings.
  • Poison prevention programs.

Julia Jacien is the Interim Experiential Program Coordinator, within the Department of Pharmacy Practice. She plays a significant role in many operations of our office, including:

  • Communicating, collecting and submitting student onboarding documentation for experiential sites.
  • Assisting with quality assurance measures.
